| 02/12/08 - It's Christmas tiiiime.... Ah, where does the time go? It was only one full calendar year ago that I remember bringing last year's Christmas party to your attention, and now, I am doing the same thing once again as we bring to you the snappily titled 'Leisure Christmas No. 1 Single Launch Party!' This year we're combining our infamous crimbo party with the release of a new single from The Leisure Allstars featuring the talented and lovely Miss Hollie G called '35 Summers'. The package also features remixes from Substatic and Lukas, both of whom wil be joining us to make some noise (and celebrate the birth of Christ). The early birds will also get the chance to grab some freebie compliation and mix CD's! And in other news, the following 3 records are really good: 1) Zed Bias Ft. | 07/10/08 - New Leisure Allstars single - out soon! The Leisure Allstars are set to drop their forthcoming single '35 Summers' on November 10th. The single features sometime Die & Clipz and Massive Attack vocalist Hollie G, and sees the Allstars get all downtempo and grown up. But then it's quickly back into party-mode with a firing bassline remix from local heroes Substatic and a slinky, minimal late night bumper from Dirt Crew and Buoyancy's main man Lukas. To celebrate this joyous union we're having a party at the best club in Bristol, Native, on Saturday 13th December with guest DJ sets from all crews. Urrrgh..we so nassssty!!! |

TY - Can't Help Myself [Tru Thoughts] 2) The Heavy - Coleen (El-B Mix) [Counter] 3) Various - Black Gold EP [Tru Thoughts] 4) Freestylers - Push Up Word Up [Data] 5) Stanton Warriors - Blaze (Baobinga & ID Mix) [Punks] And special mention must go to Parker's debut album, 'To Eternity'. It's out now on Rocstar in all the usual outlets. It's full of expertly crafted funky, jazzy, soulful beats which I'm assuming is the kind of thing you like, right? |
| 15/09/08 - Time flies... Well look at that, a whole month has passed since the last 'news' item. That's pretty slack. Anyway, since that time, the Allstars have been on a tremendous holiday (the four of us go together, we all sleep in the same bed like on Rainbow - no touching though) only to return to the rain, wind and mud, so much mud, of Bestival. Glasgow's number 1 discjockey Boom Monk Ben was there repping in full effect for Leisure with no less than 6 sets throughout the weekend, filling in as other, lesser men, fell by the muddy wayside. UK festivals...not so sure any more.... In other news, the wheels are in motion for the release of '35 Summers' by The Lesiure Allstars, replete with a big & bashy bassline remix from Bristol band 'Substatic', and some sexy minimalism from another Bristol tastemaker, Buoyancy's 'Lukas'. And finally, tracks are slowly but surely coming to fruition for the Allstars long player with vocals from the sweet and soulful Sarah Scott and Megan Hughes, and UK Dancehall artist Lady Chann. Note to self: remember to buy Lottery tickets this week...again. |

If you're in the Mild, mild west on Saturday 23rd August and in need of some super-dope beats, big bass and lashings of funk, then get yourself down to Bristol's numero uno discotheque, Native, where we've got the Bodybeard Brother Drake Scorpio jetting in all the way from Monaco for an exclusive epic 5 hour DJ set! Drake says, "Bristol is nice, there are fun ladies there, I like to party, I am liking the bass, Bristol is liking the bass, everybody is knowing about it, everyone is touching, the dancefloor is sex.....I must go now..." Okaaay. |
