Leisure Recordings and GoodGroove are back for the second instalment of Get Big Or Go Home! this time over two rooms.

Following the last rammed out event in March, LAB will play host on Saturday 11th July. This time the two labels will go full-on head to head in a battle royale of big bass and funky breaks, dancefloor jazz and funk 45s, dirty disco and sweet reggae sounds, rolling drum & bass, properhip-hop, and all the weird, wobbly and wonderful bass bin-battering stuff in between.

Special guest DJ is the tireless Featurecast, a producer and DJ very much in the ascendency having had a storming last year with six top-selling singles on labels including Catskills, GoodGroove, Bomb Strikes and Funk Weapons and plays on Radio 1. And not content with one set, he'll be laying down a classic hip-hop set in room 1, and an up-tempo set in room 2! And you can't say no to a 2-for-1 offer like that in a recession.

The prolific Bath-based label GoodGroove Records is, without question, a key playerin the worldwide funky breaks and bass scene, and, with a similar musical ethos to Leisure, is a natural bedfellow, so the collaboration should make for an un-missable night.

GoodGroove continue to go from strength to strength with EP releases from both Featurecast and The Sly Players coming this summer.

The Leisure camp is gearing up for a forthcoming release featuring NYC MCs The Good People with remixes from Bristol band Substatic, the dynamic duo Mr Benn & Drake Scorpio and the handsome and hirsute Bodybeard Brothers.

Jon from Leisure said: “We’re thrilled to be back at the venue where it all began for Leisure back in the day and we're sure that LAB will help us recreate those halcyon Arc Bar days.”

There'll also be credit crunch busting CD giveaways on the night to keep the recently redundant up to date with quality tunes.

MR BENN & DRAKE SCORPIO
[Leisure Recordings / Square One Sound / Rhythm 'n' Booze]

Plus The Leisure Allstars

Following their top-selling remix, and DJ’s favourite, for Leisure Recordings back in 2006, Mr Benn & Drake Scorpio have been back in the studio putting the finishing touches to another super-funky, bass-heavy jam, and to celebrate this glorious collaborative return, we’ve got ‘em down for an exclusive DJ show!

Since the release of his massive track ‘Long Time’ featuring Blak Twang, Mr Benn has been busy working on his forthcoming album, set to feature the mighty Ragga Twins, Blackout JA and New York MCs, The Good People, amongst others. As well as original material, his latest hot-stepping slice of remix pressure for The Magic Fly Ft. Ricky Ranking on New York’s dope Bastard Jazz label is out now.

The last year has seen Mr Benn rocking spots in Glasgow, Dresden, Gran Canaria, Dublin and Vienna, and at festivals like Big Chill, Womad, Glastonbury and Massive Attack’s Meltdown, with his special blend of reggae, hiphop, dancehall, mash ups and big bass.

Drake, on the other hand, has been doing pretty much nothing until now.

01/04/09 - A big thank you...

...to all who came down to Get Big Or Go Home! at Start The Bus in Bristol on Saturday 28th March. It really was a great success, so watch this space for future events as we team up with the mighty GoodGroove!
